Senior Economic Analyst
to assist the Essential Services Commission in providing expert economic regulation and advisory functions that add long-term value to the South Australian community.

About The Role
Reporting to the Director, Economics, the Senior Economic Analyst is responsible for taking a lead technical role in conducting complex economic modelling related to price regulation, industry monitoring, and enquiry functions.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Economic and Financial Analysis: Undertake complex economic and financial analysis and modelling with limited direction.
* Strategic Advice: Provide analysis on economic matters including access, market structure, and competition issues.
* Translating Research and Data: Prepare high-quality reports and discussion papers, explaining complex economic concepts in simple language for a general audience.

About You
To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

* Economic and Financial Skills: The ability to conduct complex economic and financial analysis, research and modelling with limited direction.
* Expert Technical Skills: Demonstrated expert-level use of Excel and other programs to analyse and present complex data.
* Effective Communication: The ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing, in a clear and logical manner and explain complex economic concepts in simple language for a general audience.
* Educational Background: A tertiary qualification in economics or a related discipline is essential for this position.
* Values-Driven Approach: A genuine commitment to the Commission's core values: accountability, collaboration, agility, respect, and integrity.

The Commission is a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body to protect the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services. Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues and provide advice to local government.

Special Conditions for Employment

* Employment is dependent upon the provision of a National Police Certificate that the Commission considers satisfactory.
* Some out of hours work may be required to meet critical deadlines.
* Some intrastate and or interstate travel may be required.
