We are seeking to recruit a passionate and experienced Animal Care Officer to join our dedicated team at our Animal Shelter in Whyalla. In the role of an Animal Care Officer, you will be:
* Providing daily husbandry, including feeding, cleaning and enrichment for animals in care
* Monitoring animal health and behaviour
* Maintaining accurate animal records
* Engaging with volunteers and members of the public
* Potential on call requirements
* Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment focused on animal welfare
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated and proactive individual who thrives on using initiative, working independently and within a team environment. With excellent communication, organisational & customer service skills, you remain calm under pressure and are confident in handling a fast‑paced environment. As part of a volunteer‑powered organisation, you will also bring the ability to engage, support, and guide volunteers within your area to ensure a cohesive and effective team.
For the casual positions, you must be willing to be available to work at short notice and over a 7‑day roster. Weekend availability is a must.
