Where You'll Be Working
Join the education team at Cessnock District Hospital in the heart of the Hunter Valley, a vibrant rural hub surrounded by vineyards, countryside and national parks. This 64-bed facility delivers diverse acute and subacute services including a busy 24/7 Emergency Department, general medicine, surgical specialties, rehabilitation and onsite diagnostics - all within a cohesive multidisciplinary environment committed to high-quality, person-centred care. The hospital is undergoing a major $138 million redevelopment with expanded ED, modern inpatient wards and upgraded facilities, creating an exciting time to contribute to growing services in a supportive, forward-thinking workplace.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you'll deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in partnership with Nurse Management, Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants to drive clinical best practice and optimise patient outcomes across Cessnock Hospital. You'll mentor nurses at all levels, facilitate teaching using adult learning principles, coordinate orientation for new graduates and students, and assess competencies in areas like basic life support, manual handling and catheterisation. Working closely with Nurse Managers and the multidisciplinary team, you'll identify education needs, develop tailored programs and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, with limited direct clinical care focused on teaching or emergencies. This role offers variety, autonomy and the reward of building nursing capability in a dynamic rural setting.
About You
You're an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for clinical education and empowering others to deliver excellence in patient care. You bring strong facilitation skills, the ability to engage diverse learners and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing education gaps across acute, emergency and subacute settings.
You bring:
* Current full AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with relevant clinical or education postgraduate qualifications (or equivalent experience)
* Current (or willingness to obtain) Cert IV Workplace Training and Assessment
* Demonstrated ability to deliver clinical teaching using adult learning principles and provide constructive feedback
* Proven skills in planning, coordinating and evaluating education programs for individuals, groups and students
* Effective communication and computer literacy to collaborate with stakeholders and maintain accurate records
* Credentialed (or willingness to obtain) in DETECT/DETECT Junior, Triage and ALS training
You'll be supported by Nurse Managers, a close-knit education team and ongoing professional development opportunities.
