About QCAT
Established on 1 December 2009 under the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 2009, QCAT is an independent tribunal that resolves disputes and reviews decisions across a wide range of jurisdictions. We use alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation and compulsory conferences to encourage collaborative outcomes.

About the Role
We are seeking motivated individuals to join QCAT as Client Services Officers. This role is ideal for those looking to build a career in justice services and contribute to meaningful outcomes for the community.
As a Client Services Officer, you will be the first point of contact for clients via phone, email, and in person. You will provide accurate information and support across QCAT’s jurisdictions, often engaging with vulnerable individuals with professionalism and empathy.
This role offers a unique opportunity to:
* Gain hands-on experience in a legal and administrative setting
* Develop client service and communication skills essential for legal practice
* Understand tribunal processes and administrative law in action
* Work alongside experienced legal professionals and registry staff
* Contribute to public service and access to justice
This is a temporary pool for short-term roles (4 weeks to 6 months), with potential for extension. Positions may arise due to staff leave, secondments, or higher duties. Submitting an application does not guarantee employment, but your application will be considered as vacancies arise.

Key Responsibilities

* Support registry staff and Tribunal members with timely and professional communication.
* Use effective questioning, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills to manage client needs.
* Review and accept applications, prepare correspondence, and ensure compliance with procedures and legislation.
* Prioritise tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment to meet service standards.
* Deliver general administrative support as directed by team leaders and managers.
* Contribute to QCAT initiatives and support the achievement of business goals.
* Perform other duties as required to support service delivery.
