About This Opportunity

The Ian Frazer Centre for Children's Immunotherapy Research is seeking an experienced Research Development Manager to play a highly strategic, high-impact role in shaping the Centre's research funding and partnership agenda.

In this senior role, you will work closely with leading researchers and clinician-scientists to strengthen the Centre's research funding pipeline, support the development of high-quality, competitive grant and fellowship applications, and build and manage productive partnerships with key industry, philanthropic and health-sector stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in enabling research that delivers real-world health outcomes for children and adolescents with cancer and immune-related diseases.

This is an opportunity to influence funding strategy, engage with diverse partners, and support the implementation of major research initiatives, providing a strong platform for career progression into senior research development, research strategy or partnership leadership roles within the University or the broader research sector.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

Lead research development activities to maximise funding success across competitive grants, fellowships and industry funding.
Provide strategic, high-level advice to researchers on funding strategy, eligibility, compliance, budgets and processes.
Oversee the development, review and quality assurance of high-quality, competitive grant applications, including shaping persuasive narratives.
Lead research partnership activities, including coordination of research contracts and agreements from negotiation to execution.
Act as a senior engagement point for key industry, health and philanthropic partners.
Provide strategic oversight of research budgets, contractual obligations and Centre-wide research performance and improvement initiatives.

About You

You will bring strong research development expertise, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to operate autonomously in a complex research environment. You will have:

Postgraduate qualifications (PhD) in health or biomedical sciences and significant experience in research development and/or research contract management; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Extensive experience supporting competitive grant applications (e.g. ARC, NHMRC, MRFF, philanthropic or industry funding) and/or managing complex research contracts and agreements.
High-level scientific writing and editing skills for grant applications, reports and presentations.
Demonstrated experience engaging with industry, health and research partners, including contract negotiation and working effectively with legal teams.
Strong knowledge of research administration, financial management and compliance requirements, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
Proven leadership capability, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence at all levels.

Desirable

Organisational knowledge of Queensland Health operational processes.
