Overview
The Southport School (TSS) is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the Nerang River on the Gold Coast. The School has been established for over 122 years and is committed to excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced, holistic Christian environment.
Currently an opportunity exists for a full time Groundsperson to join the TSS Grounds team in managing the 52 hectares of grounds across our two campuses – our Preparatory and Senior School. This fixed-term full-time contract covers leave (5 May – 31 July 2026) with potential extension to September 2026. This contract is available to cover leave of our team.

We are keen to speak with and meet candidates who:
* Ideally have at least 2 years of landscaping and garden/grounds management experience
* May be interested in sports ground management
* Are keen to contribute to the opportunities and programs provided to students, families and the school community
Responsibilities
* Manage the grounds across the two campuses (Preparatory and Senior School) and showcase grounds, greenkeeping and landscaping skills.
* Support the Grounds team in day-to-day grounds maintenance and development work across the 52 hectares.
* Collaborate with staff and contribute to school programs and activities where appropriate.
Qualifications & Desired Qualities
* Should enjoy working with a team and be able to operate independently on project work.
* Sound mechanical aptitude and relevant licenses are beneficial.
* Landscaping and grounds knowledge and experience.
* Irrigation, pesticide and fertilization training or experience highly regarded but not essential.
Requirements
* Strong work ethic and the ability to perform the inherent duties of the position.
* All staff should be supportive of the Anglican Code of Conduct and the School\'s values and ethos.
* Candidates must provide a recent criminal history check and hold, or be eligible to hold, a Working with Children Blue Card.
