Gardener Position at Melbourne Racing Club
Reporting to the Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time position will include maintaining the course proper, training tracks and grounds ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.
We seek a skilled Gardener with experience in turf management, landscaping or gardening. You will be responsible for undertaking general turf maintenance work including mowing, track repairs, rail moves, operation of machinery and pre/post-race day tasks.
You will also assist with garden maintenance tasks: hedging, weeding, pruning, and mulching. Additionally, you will operate plant equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, front end loader, forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general chemical spraying operations.
The ideal candidate will have a proven background in a hands-on role from within the grounds maintenance, racecourse, turf management or other relevant industries. They will bring their experience and passion for gardening to a range of duties aimed at maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of the grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintaining the course proper, training tracks and grounds to ensure optimal presentation
* Undertaking general turf maintenance work including mowing, track repairs, rail moves and operation of machinery
* Assisting with garden maintenance tasks such as hedging, weeding, pruning and mulching

Requirements:
* Proven background in a hands-on role from within the grounds maintenance, racecourse, turf management or other relevant industries
* Demonstrable experience in turf management, landscaping or gardening
* Skillful operation of plant equipment
* Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery
* Sound knowledge of handling and spraying chemicals
