Palermo Perfumes is a fast-growing fragrance company, known for crafting high-quality perfumes inspired by iconic designers. With over 30 retail locations and a strong e-commerce presence, we are expanding rapidly — and are now seeking our first dedicated HR professional to join our head office team.
**About the Role**:
This is an exciting opportunity to build and shape the HR function at Palermo Perfumes from the ground up. Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for overseeing all HR processes and strategies across the business. We are looking for someone confident working independently, with 2-3+ years of HR experience, who is ready to take ownership of the role and grow with the company.
**Responsibilities**:
- Create, implement, and maintain HR policies, ensuring compliance with Australian legislation
- Guide managers and staff on employee relations, performance management, and professional development
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and the employee induction process
- Support the business with workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention strategies
- Manage HR administration including contracts, KPIs, job descriptions, and employee records
- Provide advice on IR/ER matters and ensure compliance with Fair Work regulations
- Monitor and advise on legislative changes affecting the workforce
- Assist with restructuring, workforce planning, and future HR initiatives as the company grows
- Create HR reports and insights for the executive team
- Manage scheduling for training and development for various departments
- Be a trusted advisor to leadership on all people and culture matters
**Requirements**:
- 2-3+ years of experience in a standalone HR role or as a HR advisor
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment law and Fair Work legislation
- Confidence working autonomously and building HR processes from scratch
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work across different departments and balance hands-on tasks with strategic initiatives
- FMCG, retail, or blue-collar experience highly regarded but not essential
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Ability to travel between sites if needed (if needed)
- The ability to communicate in Turkish would be an advantage (not a requirement)
