MARABISDA is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Contact Officer to supervise and support family contact visits between children and their parents and significant family members.
This meaningful, hands-on work that directly supports children’s safety, cultural identity and family restoration.

About the Role
The Contact Officer supervises and facilitates safe, culturally appropriate contact visits between children and their families in line with Child Safety case plans.
You will:
· Supervise family visits to ensure children’s safety and emotional wellbeing
· Monitor interactions and intervene when necessary
· Support culturally safe, strengths-based family engagement
· Encourage positive, developmentally appropriate interactions
· Provide clear, objective case notes and reports
· Liaise with Child Safety, carers and internal case workers
· Participate in case meetings
· Respond appropriately to risk and escalate concerns immediately
· Transportation of children to and from contact when needed
This role operates within the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld) and relevant Child Safety legislation.
Some after-hours or weekend work may be required.

Skills and Experience
Essential
· Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, kinship systems and community dynamics
· Experience working with vulnerable children and families
· Ability to identify and respond to risk
· Strong observation and written documentation skills
· Valid Queensland Driver’s License
· Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
· Willingness to obtain a National Police Check
Highly Desirable
· Experience in supervised contact or child protection
· Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services (or similar)
· Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
