This is a unique opportunity to embark on a comprehensive training program in rural psychiatry, based at one of four Comprehensive Training Hubs across Western Australia.

As a trainee psychiatrist, you will work under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist, providing assessment and management for clients requiring specialist psychiatric care. You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary and medical teams, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality patient care.

">

The Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in rural generalist psychiatry, preparing you for a career as a skilled and compassionate psychiatrist. Upon completion of your training, you will be eligible for Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

To be eligible for this training position, you must have successfully completed a medical degree and hold current general registration as a medical practitioner in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand. You will also need to demonstrate a strong desire to obtain knowledge of and experience in biological and psychotherapeutic interventions, as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills.

The selection process will assess your eligibility for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia, your admission to Training of the RANZCP for basic training (stages 1-3), and your ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Desirable criteria include understanding of the issues around providing Mental Health services in a rural community, knowledge of the Western Australian Mental Health Act 2014, and relevant training or experience in education.
