Position Summary
The Middle School Cheerleader Advisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the cheerleading program for middle school students. The advisor works to promote school spirit, support athletic teams, teach cheerleading techniques, and foster teamwork, discipline, and positive sportsmanship among students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Organize, plan, and supervise all cheerleading practices, performances, and events.
* Teach proper cheerleading techniques, stunting (if applicable), safety, and conditioning.
* Coordinate routines for games, pep rallies, and school events.
* Supervise students during practices, games, travel, and other cheer-related activities.
* Promote positive school spirit and represent the school in a professional and positive manner.
* Enforce team rules, school policies, and safety regulations.
* Communicate effectively with parents, students, school staff, and administration.
* Schedule and coordinate tryouts in accordance with school district policies.
* Maintain records of attendance, eligibility, and participation.
* Monitor academic performance and behavior of cheerleaders, encouraging academic excellence and good citizenship.
* Ensure the proper care and maintenance of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
* Submit required forms and documentation to the athletic office or administration.
* Attend all required training, meetings, and professional development as designated by the district.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred.
* Prior cheerleader coaching experience is preferred.
* CPR/First Aid certification.
* Completion of any required coaching or student activity permits as mandated by the state of Ohio (Pupil Activity Permit).
* Knowledge of child development and ability to relate to middle school students.
* Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Commitment to upholding high standards of safety, inclusion, and student well-being.
Working Conditions
* Work is typically performed after school hours and may include evenings and weekends.
* Must be able to stand for long periods, demonstrate physical movements, and occasionally lift equipment or supplies.
* Outdoor work in various weather conditions during athletic events.
