Job Overview
A Social Media Specialist reporting to the General Manager Media and External Communications will be the everyday voice of nbn, managing and responding across nbn's social and digital channels to build trust and engagement with customers and communities across Australia.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging content that supports integrated communications campaigns and maintains a clear, accessible, and consistent message across all channels.
- Monitor social media conversations, identify emerging trends, concerns and opportunities, and feed insights back into the business to inform decisions and improve customer experiences.
- Respond to online interactions, balancing timely engagement with accuracy, relevance and a focus on people, ensuring responses reflect nbn's commitment to transparency, accountability and strong customer outcomes.
- Use Meta Business Suite and other social media management platforms to plan, monitor and optimise content performance.
- Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to shape content strategy and contribute to the broader communications plan.
- Help surface early signals of risk or opportunity to strengthen community confidence and protect nbn's reputation.
- Operate within established processes while exercising sound judgement on complex or sensitive interactions.
Qualifications
- Experience in social media, customer service or digital communications, with a proven ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—capable of translating complex information into clear, concise, and human responses.
- Solid understanding of the social media landscape, including emerging trends and brand storytelling.
- Proficiency with Meta Business Suite and other social media management tools for content planning, monitoring and optimisation.
- Curiosity and insight‐led mindset, with an understanding of how online conversations evolve across platforms.
- Self‐directed initiative, sound judgement, and a genuine focus on people and outcomes.
- Fluency in English and an ability to communicate with kindness and integrity.
