About the role
SJ Cheesman is seeking an experienced Welder (First Class) to join our team in Port Pirie, South Australia on a full-time basis. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality welding services to support our operations within the trades and services industry.
What you'll be doing
* Performing a variety of welding tasks, including metal fabrication, pipe fitting, and structural welding
* Carry out preparation of materials and finishing or repair of welded parts to ensure quality standards are met
* Reading and interpreting drawings and technical specifications to ensure accurate and compliant welding
* Selecting the appropriate welding techniques, processes, and equipment to meet project requirements
* Maintaining a safe and organised work environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations
* Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient and effective project completion
* Documenting work progress and maintaining accurate records of welding activities
What we're looking for
* Relevant trade certificate in Welding or similar trade and at least 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Strong knowledge of welding techniques, processes, and safety standards
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
* Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot any issues that may arise
* Commitment to delivering high-quality work and maintaining a safe work environment
* Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues
