About the position:
This position is responsible for providing expert reliability support for the fleet of locomotives that Progress Rail supports across Australia. Based at the Nebo maintenance facility, the role also involves supporting operations across the Eastern Seaboard, working closely with site and operational teams to improve asset performance, reliability, and availability. The role plays a critical part in driving continuous improvement and ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable locomotive operations.
Job Responsibilities:
* Monitor Locomotive Reliability for supported fleets.
* Maintains Reliability Growth models.
* Analyse asset defects and fleet performance data across all contracted fleets using technology applications such as Excel and Power BI
* Assist with root cause analysis and failure reporting.
* Develop strategies and recommendations to improve fleet reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
* Development modifications, product improvements and containment strategies to deliver reliability growth.
* Assist with the review and development of Technical Maintenance Plans for locomotive fleets
* Interface with the customer to report on reliability performance and provide technical information.
* Provide Support to the Fleet Engineers
About you:
* You are a motivated and detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, technical environment. You bring a strong engineering foundation and enjoy using data and insights to drive better outcomes.
You will also have:
* Professional engineering qualifications, or trade qualifications with post‑trade engineering studies, providing you with a solid technical base.
* A high level of proficiency in MS Excel and/or Power BI, with the ability to analyse data and communicate insights clearly.
* A team‑focused mindset combined with the initiative and drive of a self‑starter.
* The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
