About The Role
Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for a Casual Animal Care Attendant at our Gold Coast Rehoming Centre! AWLQ Animal Attendants play a huge part in ensuring the welfare of our animals.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with a dedicated team of employees and volunteers to ensure the welfare of animals in care, including dogs, cats, and small pets, is to the highest standard.
* Maintain and clean animal housing to a high standard.
* Provide a high standard of animal care, including administering routine veterinary medications and treatments.
* Provide positive‐based enrichment and behaviour management programs for animals.
* Impound and reunite lost animals with owners.
* Assist customers with pet meet‐and‐greets and adoptions.
* Maintain high-level accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using our digital system.
* Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors of the Rehoming Centre.
What are the minimum requirements for this position?
* Certificate III in Animal Studies, Companion Animals, Dog Training or Behaviour qualification (desirable).
* Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environment.
* Previous animal industry experience in a similar capacity with dogs and cats.
* National Police Clearance Certificate.
* Experience using digital management software and inputting data.
* Open driver's licence.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
* Excellent customer service skills.
* The ability to work in a team and independently.
* Experience working with dogs, cats, and livestock.
* Knowledge and demonstrated ability with animal quarantine and disease management.
* Confident dog and cat handling skills, able to read body language and communicate animal behaviour.
* Computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office, email, and data management systems.
* Ability to work a 7‐day roster – which covers weekends and public holidays, with a 5 pm finish on some shifts.
* Reliable transport.
