We are seeking motivated and capable venue production technicians to join our team supporting exceptional events and guest experiences for the newly constructed Nyaal Banyul Convention Centre.
This role contributes to the delivery of event technologies across meeting rooms, conferences, spaces, and live event environments. Working alongside a team of technicians and supervisors, the technicians assist with the delivery of events while continuing to develop technical capability across venue systems and production environments.
This role provides an opportunity to build practical experience across multiple event technology disciplines while supporting the successful delivery of world class events.
About Nyaal Banyul
We’re preparing to open the doors to our brand new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre — an exciting space designed to bring people together through creativity, innovation and unforgettable experiences.
Set to open in July 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will be Australia’s newest convention and event centre. Operated by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET), the venue is designed to host everything from community gatherings to major conferences and entertainment events.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Event Delivery & Technical Operation
Support the delivery of meetings, conferences, and live events through the setup and operation of venue production systems.
* Assist with the setup, operation and pack down of audio visual and event technology systems.
* Prepare event spaces in accordance with run sheets, schedules, and event documentation.
* Support technicians and supervisors during live event operations.
* Monitor events and assist with resolving basic technical issues.
* Maintain event spaces and equipment to venue presentation standards.
* Provide clear communication and handover between technicians during event shifts.
Multi-Discipline Event Technology Support
The technician role provides exposure to multiple areas of event technology while building practical capability across venue systems, including:
* Audio systems used for meetings and presentations
* Vision and video display systems
* Event and stage lighting systems
* Presentation and conferencing systems
* Hybrid and virtual event technology platforms
* Event infrastructure and staging environments
Technicians work alongside senior team members to continue developing operational capability across these systems.
Event Preparation & Technical Coordination
Assist with the preparation and readiness of event spaces and systems.
* Review event documentation including run sheets and schedules.
* Prepare equipment and rooms according to event requirements.
* Assist with testing presentation systems and verifying client content.
* Identify and report potential technical issues during setup.
* Escalate faults or complex issues to senior technicians when required.
Teamwork & Event Collaboration
Work collaboratively with the AV team and other venue departments to deliver successful events.
* Support the team during event setup, operation, and pack down.
* Collaborate with operational teams across the venue.
* Contribute to a positive and professional working environment.
* Continue developing technical capability through hands-on experience and team learning.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Experience or exposure to live event production environments, such as schools, places of worship, convention centres, theatres, live events or corporate AV.
* Foundational knowledge of production systems used in meetings and events.
* Interest in developing technical capability across audio, lighting and vision systems.
* Confidence assisting with presentation systems and conferencing technology.
* Ability to follow event documentation including run sheets and equipment schedules.
* Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
* Professional communication skills in a client-facing environment.
* Ability to work under pressure during live events and tight production schedules.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger production team.
