Job Description
Create your best future and join Westpac as a Manager, Business Controls and Monitoring
What's the role?
You'll step into a broad, first‐line risk role where you support the business to identify, understand and manage risk, strengthen controls, and meet key governance and assurance requirements.
Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the business, you'll provide practical advice on risk and control matters, support incident, issue and assurance activities, and contribute to reviews and assessments that help lift risk maturity. You'll be involved in thematic reviews, deep dives and ongoing monitoring, helping teams stay ahead of emerging risks and operate within appetite.
This is a full‐time role based in Sydney, with flexible working arrangements to support balance. If you enjoy variety, problem‐solving and influencing better outcomes, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across a diverse portfolio.
What do I need?
To thrive in this role, you'll be self‐sufficient and bring a pragmatic approach to navigating complexity and a genuine interest in helping teams make confident, well‐informed decisions. You'll also bring:
* Strong understanding of governance, controls, or incident and issue management.
* The ability to break down complex issues and communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Confidence working in fast‐moving environments with competing priorities.
* A proactive mindset, with an eye for emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen controls.
* Sound judgement and attention to detail when reviewing information and recommending actions.
