Expressions of Interest are being sought from eligible ongoing and temporary employees in the NSW Government to relieve in the role of Executive Director, Quality, Participation and Connections from 26 March 2026 up to 28 August 2026 (with a possibility of extension) in the Early Childhood Outcomes directorate.
About Quality, Participation and Connections
Our directorate champions quality and inclusive early childhood education and care (ECEC) in the development and coordination of policy across Early Childhood Outcomes, the department and governments to put the diverse needs of children, families and communities at the centre of all we do.
About the role
This role leads critical work to drive improved outcomes for all children through high quality early childhood education and care (ECEC). This includes policy development and program delivery to improve quality across the sector, lift child learning, development and wellbeing outcomes, and ensure inclusive, culturally responsive services which support all children to thrive.
Key accountabilities
* Design and deliver early childhood education and care programs that lift learning and developmental outcomes and support access to inclusive, culturally responsive services for all children, and provide targeted support to children who experience barriers to accessing ECEC. This includes end-to-end commissioning to design, implement, monitor and evaluate programs and initiatives.
* Champion and advance culturally responsive and Aboriginal-led ECEC through policy and program delivery which ensure all Aboriginal children and their families are supported to enrol in quality, culturally inclusive ECEC where their culture is celebrated and children can flourish.
* Lead cross agency engagement collaboration to provide an integrated, family-centred approach to universal and targeted programs that support child health and development outcomes, including across Closing the Gap, disability reform, child protection and wellbeing and other related social policy.
* Deliver programs that directly support NSW ECEC services to lift pedagogy and practice and to support children’s continuity of learning with the support of key stakeholders Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority and the NSW Regulatory Authority.
* Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships to build consensus with the sector, community, other levels of government and other stakeholders to ensure that policy and program development is done in partnership and that recommendations and advice are well researched and target the Agency's strategic outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
