SWIMMING POOL TECHNICIAN
HD PUMPS (WINNELLIE)
THE ROLE
Join HD Pumps, a long-established Northern Territory leader in pool and water equipment servicing.
We’re seeking a Swimming Pool Technician to service a diverse portfolio of sites across Darwin — from residential pools through to large-scale commercial aquatic facilities and complex plantrooms operating within regulated and security-controlled environments.
This is a hands-on technical role involving responsibility for water quality, equipment reliability and preventative maintenance across a mix of sites that demand consistency, professionalism and attention to detail.
You’ll gain structured on-the-job training and develop experience working with:
* Commercial filtration and hydraulic systems
* Pumps, chlorination and chemical dosing equipment
* Preventative maintenance programs
* Fault diagnostics and minor mechanical repairs
* Compliance-driven servicing within operational environments
The role typically operates on a rotating roster (one weekend on, one off). Penalty rates apply in accordance with the relevant award.
If you’re looking to build a long-term career in commercial aquatic systems, this role offers genuine growth and progression.
As a locally owned Territory business, HD Pumps values experience, teamwork, and community. We proudly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Defence Force veterans to apply.
KEY DUTIES
* Perform routine servicing, water testing and preventative maintenance (primarily commercial sites)
* Diagnose and repair faults in pumps, filters, chlorinators and dosing systems
* Ensure full compliance with site safety and OH&S requirements
* Maintain accurate job records using TimeTrak job management software
* Keep service vehicles clean, organised and properly stocked
* Build strong working relationships with clients
* Contribute to maintaining high service standards across the team
BENEFITS & PERKS
* Competitive hourly rate based on skills and experience
* Rotating weekend roster with applicable penalty rates
* Fully equipped work vehicle supplied for the right candidate
* Long-term opportunity with a stable, family-owned business
* Supportive and skilled team environment
* Ongoing training and opportunities for career growth
* Access to staff discounts through HD Pumps & Humpty Doo Hardware
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
We’re looking for a reliable, practical and motivated person to build a long-term career.
Preferred but not essential:
* Experience as a pool technician
* Basic knowledge of pool chemistry, water and filtration systems
Essential:
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
* Practical hands-on experience (trade assistant, mechanical, maintenance, DIY or similar)
* Ability to work independently across multiple sites
* High attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Good communication and customer service skills
* Confidence using mobile job management systems
* Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors
Requirements:
* Current NT Manual Driver’s Licence
* Own basic hand tools (specialist equipment provided)
* Current or recent police check
* Australian citizenship (due to site access and security requirements)
If you don’t have direct pool industry experience but have the right attitude and mechanical capability, we’re willing to train the right person.
