About the Role
The DPP plays a central role in the criminal justice system, with responsibilities defined by the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1990. The DPP is responsible for instituting, preparing, and conducting criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Crown before various courts throughout the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities
* Admitted or eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court or of a Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
* A high level of advocacy, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Knowledge of legislation, and the procedures of the courts of the Northern Territory or demonstrated ability in another jurisdiction and ability to quickly attain relevant local knowledge.
* High level oral and written communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to effectively engage, negotiate, and collaborate with other agencies, defence agencies, Courts, local communities, other external stakeholders, and the general public.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage one's own legal practice independently in accordance with internal practices and procedures, working with competing demands under pressure.
* An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
