Hays Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Senior Clinical Services Manager for a labour hire opportunity within a Commonwealth Government clinical governance environment. This role is suited to an experienced mental health professional with strong analytical and writing skills who is seeking to contribute to clinical governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities at a national level.
Your new role
This position supports a clinical information and governance function, with a primary focus on clinical incident reviews, reporting and quality improvement. The role requires careful analysis of sensitive clinical information and the preparation of high quality written reports in line with legislative, procedural and governance requirements. You will work closely with senior leadership and clinical colleagues, contribute to governance and assurance processes, and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support safe and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare high quality Clinical Incident Reviews, reports and written responses to incident notifications and sensitive matters in line with relevant legislation and procedures.
* Analyse complex clinical information and identify contributing factors to client distress, applying principles consistent with a no blame culture.
* Work across multiple information systems to review, collate and manage sensitive client data, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
* Undertake complex work with limited direction, exercising professional judgement, autonomy and accountability.
* Support senior leadership in the coordination and administration of clinical panels and clinical incident review meetings.
* Contribute to continuous quality improvement activities, including the development and review of governance arrangements and policy advice.
* Demonstrate high levels of integrity, professionalism, emotional intelligence and a commitment to positive team culture.
* Identify and manage clinical and information related risks within mental health service environments.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, anticipating and responding to operational needs.
* Apply cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and professional standards.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
* A strong clinical background and experience working in mental health settings
* High level writing skills, particularly in relation to complex, sensitive and governance focused documentation
* Sound analytical, critical thinking and risk management capability
* Experience supporting clinical governance, quality assurance or incident review functions
* An ability to work confidently with sensitive information in high accountability environments
* Experience working within the APS or governance focused roles is highly desirable
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience:
* AHPRA registered Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Registered Nurse with full registration OR
* Social Worker eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and eligible to apply for Mental Health accreditation OR
* Counsellor or Nurse with a minimum of three years' experience in mental health settings OR
* A minimum of five years' experience working in mental health environments
* Australian citizenship is mandatory under the Public Service Act 1999.
* The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline AGSVA security clearance.
