Together with our supplier partners, we invest billions of dollars each year in Customer Value initiatives (including our Everyday Low Price, Promotions, Below the Line and shelf price programs). Ensuring we help customers find value where it matters most for them. This is one of the largest recurring investments we make across the Woolworths Group.
**The Prospect**
As a Promotional Planning Manager you will play an instrumental role in shaping the $6B+ investment we make in promotions, working closely with Commercial teams, wiq (our Advanced Analytics partner), finance partners, as well as working cross-functionally across numerous partnering teams across the Merchandising eco-system. By leveraging complex promotional data & new, cutting edge promo planning capabilities, you will use performance & customer insights to own the optimisation of our 'yellow' specials program, to deliver improved ROI on our promotional spend for buying teams & trade partners. All the while ensuring we deliver more meaningful & tailored value for our customers.
This newly created role will report to the Business Owner - Promotions and forms part of the Next Gen Promotions team, of ~4 team members. The role presents an opportunity to be a part of a fast paced and dynamic environment, working side by side with a team of data analysts/engineers to develop and deliver world class promotional solutions & customer-first outcomes. This is a high impact role with high impact initiatives and projects that are directly visible for the executive committee / C-Suite.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Own the bi-annual promotional slotting process including deployment of tool enhancements and training & coaching of ACMs on best practice promo planning
- Co-create customer first promotional strategies for buying teams, in collaboration with Merchandise & Category managers and support the realisation through slotting plans
- Embed best practice promotional planning tools & processes across all buying teams by shaping and influencing best practice ways of working for end to end promotional management
- Proactively understanding and addressing feedback and promotional needs of the Assistant Category Managers, including incorporation of enhancements into relevant product roadmaps
- Manage the development & deployment of strategies, tools & processes to deliver innovation and improved decision making across our full portfolio of trade investment spend including Specials, Everyday Low Price & Below the Line (Rewards) pricing programs
- Influence creative solutions to complex business problems in partnership with our wiq Advanced Analytics team as we unlock the power of data to reimagine retail Enabling the development and sharing of best practice across the broader Woolworths Group ecosystem, as a centre of Promotions excellence for the group

To be successful in this role and thrive in our high performance culture, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- 5+ years of experience at in a retail buying / commercial team environment
- Tertiary qualifications (e.g. business, commerce, finance etc)
- Deep knowledge of current Woolworths promotional systems and practices
- Proven track record of leading and influencing stakeholders to deliver meaningful customer outcomes
- Comfortable using complex data sets to present meaningful insights & actionable recommendations
- Extensive commercial acumen & data analytics skills (a focus on promotions will be beneficial)
- Able to prioritise, work under pressure, meet deadlines and provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders through effective work planning & structured communication
- Retail pricing/promotions strategy & commercial transformation experience advantageous Superb written and oral communication and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with senior management stakeholders
