Traffic Management Design Officer – Mackay Regional Council
Salary : $91,166.17 per annum + up to 18% superannuation

About this opportunity
Join Mackay Regional Council as a Traffic Management Design Officer and help shape the future of our region’s transport network. You will develop and oversee Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS), liaise with residents, contractors and government agencies, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage TMPs and TGSs for Council projects.
- Assess and approve TMP/TGS submissions for internal and external works.
- Investigate and resolve community concerns about traffic management.
- Audit and certify works for compliance with standards and safety.
- Liaise with residents, contractors, and government agencies.
- Contribute to a positive, multi‑skilled team environment.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction (essential).
- General Construction Induction (White Card).
- QLD “C” Class Driver’s Licence (or ability to transfer interstate licence).
- Experience investigating and resolving traffic management issues.
- Strong communication, research, and technical reporting skills.
- Proficiency in RapidPlan software.
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and AustRoads guides.
- Experience with CAD drafting and spreadsheets.
- Understanding of Council’s risk management framework.
