The role
Introduction

St Catherine's Catholic College Singleton is seeking a Permanent Part Time (26.75 hours per week) Learning Support Assistant to join the team. St Catherine's Catholic College draws its students from the Singleton local Government Area. Singleton is approximately 73 kilometres from Newcastle, close to attractions such as historical villages of Morpeth and Wollombi and a 30minute drive from the beautiful vineyard area of the Hunter Valley. The College is a co-educational school offering a comprehensive curriculum for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Nestled in the beautiful Hunter Valley, St Catherine's has a proud history of excellence and achievements in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits and offers a seamless transition for your all students in their educational journey. St Catherine's is a Visible Wellbeing School focused on high expectations for all students. We have a Gifted Education Program and provide differentiated curriculum for students with diverse learning needs, both intervention and extension.

Description

Learning Support Assistants (LSA) in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of supporting teachers in ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live a purposeful life.

  • Supported by the Catholic community, of which they are a vital part, LSAs support teachers in inviting students and their families into a faith‐filled educational experience.
  • LSAs support the promotion of the school as a place of learning and excellence where creativity and curiosity are nurtured and students are connected with their world through deep learning and engagement.
  • Under the direction of teachers, LSAs provide support and assistance in school routines; classroom activities; and the care and support of students with disability.
Skills and Experiences
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools.
  • Experience working with students with disability (K-12).
  • Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of a teacher, and in collaboration with school staff, CSO staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively administer assessments, and deliver interventions, under the direction of a teacher.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement adjustments required for individual students and groups of students.
  • Experience in supporting student enrolment and transitions, under the direction of a teacher.
  • Knowledge about the relevant Disability legislation and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data.
  • Evidence of excellent organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
Qualifications
  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training.
  • Certificate III or IV in School Based Education Support or experience in schools (Desirable).
Conditions of Employment

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
