This is an exciting opportunity to join our high-performing team and play a lead role in photolithography process development, mask layout and device fabrication. As a Senior Process Development Engineer, you will contribute to advancing fabrication workflows for emerging micro/nanoscale devices.

* You will be responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining photolithography and wet etching processes and systems, supporting advanced device prototyping, and delivering expert user training.

* The role includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, participation in facility R&D initiatives, and hands-on involvement with complex fabrication and characterisation workflows.
">
* Your key responsibilities will include:
">
1. Technical Expertise in Photolithography and Device Fabrication
">
Demonstrated extensive hands-on experience with photolithography systems (e.g. mask aligners, steppers, spin coaters), including process optimisation, multi-layer alignment, resist handling, and troubleshooting.
">
2. Experience in Micro/Nanofabrication and Multistep Process Integration
">
Strong knowledge of nanofabrication processes including deposition, dry /wet etching, surface preparation, bonding, and device packaging. Ability to design and optimise end-to-end fabrication workflows for prototyping and advanced research applications.
">
3. Proficiency in Design Tools and Mask Layout
">
Proficiency in device and mask layout design using CAD/EDA software such as AutoCAD, L-Edit, KLayout, or Mentor Graphics. Experience interpreting device designs and integrating them into compatible lithographic processes.
">
4. Knowledge of Analytical and Characterisation Tools
">
Demonstrated experience using metrology and characterisation tools (e.g. optical microscopy, profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM, AFM) to evaluate process outcomes and ensure fabrication quality and reproducibility.

5. Ability to Support Multidisciplinary Research and Provide User Training
">
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supporting academic and industry researchers. Proven ability to deliver technical training, prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), and provide expert process advice in a collaborative, service-oriented environment.

6. Safety, Maintenance, and Cleanroom Operations
">
Sound knowledge of WHS practices in cleanroom environments. Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot fabrication equipment, manage documentation, and contribute to a culture of safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.

About You
">
* Completion of postgraduate qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in photolithography and nanofabrication processes; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and/or training.
">
* Extensive experience in micro- and nanofabrication, with advanced knowledge and hands-on expertise in photolithography (Mask aligners, Direct Laser Writer, hot embosser, resists, developers etc.) and associated device fabrication techniques.
">
* Demonstrated experience in 2D/3D device layout and mask design using tools such as KLayout, AutoCAD, Mentor Graphics, L-Edit, or similar EDA/CAD platforms.
">
* Proven expertise in developing and optimising multi-step microfabrication workflows, with a strong focus on photolithography integration alongside thin film deposition (e.g. sputtering, e-beam evaporation), dry/wet etching, and bonding processes.
">
* Hands-on experience in wet etching processes and systems, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, precise chemical handling, material compatibility, and control of etch uniformity and process reliability.
">
* Proficiency in characterisation techniques relevant to device fabrication, including profilometry, ellipsometry, SEM, AFM, surface roughness measurement, and optical microscopy.
">
* Experience working with Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) systems and process development is highly desirable.
">
* Familiarity with advanced fabrication techniques such as nanoimprint lithography, soft lithography, or nano 3D printing is an advantage.
">
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt and troubleshoot processes and equipment issues independently.
">
* Experience supporting collaborative research projects and working with diverse stakeholders in a technical service or R&D environment.
">
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to user engagement, training delivery, and safety leadership in shared-use environments.
