Overview

This engagement role is for someone driven and comfortable working as part of a team and independently. The role suits someone creative and energetic who enjoys talking with people of all ages. It includes public speaking and some travel. Flexibility on working days/times is a must. You will work with a supportive and proactive team focused on providing safety information and community connection events to Territorians. Darwin, Northern Territory


Remuneration

$34.58 p/hour based on a 20-hour week. Travel is required and may increase hours at times. This is a one-year contracted role with the potential to continue on.


Reports to

This role reports to the NHWNT Office Manager & Chief Executive Officer


Primary Objective

To coordinate and grow the Neighbourhood Watch organisation, activities and volunteers in the Northern Region of the NT in order to provide preventative safety information to all Territorians. The role will be supported by the NHWNT Offices and the Alice Springs Police.


About NHWNT

Neighbourhood Watch NT is a not-for-profit community-based crime prevention organisation first established in the Northern Territory in 1988.

Neighbourhood Watch NT delivers programs that empower people to take responsibility for their own safety and encourages collaborative crime prevention partnerships between the community and the Northern Territory Police.

NHWNT is governed by a Board of Management. Our current team includes a CEO, Marketing and Office Manager and Auxiliary Officer.


Responsibilities

* Promotion of NHWNT events, resources, campaigns and messaging throughout the Northern Region
* Identifying and creating community connection events and education opportunities to share safety information with the greater public
* Management of all events, stalls, presentations in the region
* Have and maintain an understanding of the local community issues
* Drive the growth of NHWNT membership and activity in the Southern and Barkly regions
* Present community information sessions to local community groups and/or school groups
* Build and manage the Southern Region's volunteer base
* Be the key representative of all NHWNT matters in the Southern Region
* Represent NHWNT at relevant meetings and events
* Build excellent working relationships with key stakeholders and identify possible partnerships and collaborations
* Assist with social media posting and follower growth
* Project management of Southern Initiatives
* Ensure all reporting requirements are met
* Advocacy on behalf of the Region and the NHWNT organisation


Key Selection Criteria

* Proven experience in community engagement / customer service / events / volunteer management
* Previous project management experience
* A passion for community safety
* The ability to work independently and be a team player
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Computer literate and able to use basic programs such as Word, Office and PowerPoint
* Flexible with the ability to work weekends and afternoons when an event or presentation occurs and occasionally stay overnight on trips from Darwin to rural areas such as Katherine, Nhulunbuy and other Northern Region areas
* Reliable with a high level of integrity
* Must qualify for a NT Ochre Card
* Must have a car and current insurance
