About the Position:
We have an exciting chance for a skilled Site Classifier / Driller with 4+ years’ experience to join an expanding and dynamic team in our Ashmore office. The successful applicant will have hands-on experience operating a 4WD drilling rig to conduct geotechnical investigations for residential developments. They will also be proficient in preparing detailed site classification reports in line with Australian Standards (AS 2870).
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate drilling rigs and associated secondary equipment.
- Manage augers and rods, including loading, unloading, and removal from drill rig feeder mechanisms.
- Plan, maintain, and source drilling equipment to support investigative drilling projects.
- Ensure compliance with site-specific inductions, SWMS, and all other safety documentation.
- Contribute to the development of drilling, traffic control, service locating, and related operational procedures.
- Ensure project timelines are achieved and deliverables meet high-quality standards.
- Prepare comprehensive site classification reports, including:
- Borehole logs, DCP results, photographs, and test locations.
- Site descriptions and regional geology.
- Subsurface condition assessments, including groundwater observations.
- Site classifications and ground movement predictions in line with AS 2870-2011.
- Allowable bearing pressures for high-level footings and settlement estimates.
About You:
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to operate Microsoft office suite including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Good knowledge in problem solving involving mechanical issues related to drill rig issues.
- Detailed working knowledge of building codes and regulations, including AS2870 – 2011. Knowledge of testing soils to relevant Australian and State or Territory Standards.
- Experience in soil logging in accordance with AS1726 and site classification in accordance AS2870 is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of quality, safety and environmental compliance requirements and a commitment to keeping safety at the core of everything you do.
- Personable with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven track record of managing client relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to successful complete a preemployment medical assessment which confirms physical capability for fieldwork requirements such as lifting augers and undertaking dynamic cone penetrometer testing.
- Current Site Classifier License.
- Current Automatic Class C Drivers License.
