The Role
At Caulfield Grammar School, our purpose is to enable quality learning everyday in every experience for every learner, for life—and our Sports programme is integral to achieving this. As a member of the Associated Public Schools (APS) and participant in the Associated Grammar Schools Victoria (AGSV) competitions, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated First Team Coach to lead performance and culture within a key programme.
The role of every CGS sports coach, including our First Team coaches, is to deliver an exceptional sporting experience for our students, ensuring that Caulfield Grammar School values, policies and procedures are consistently embedded across all training sessions and game‐day environments.
In this role, you will lead the First Team, setting clear performance standards, driving a contemporary game style, and fostering an environment that supports both excellence and student wellbeing.
We have multiple six‐month fixed‐term part‐time opportunities, starting in Term 4 (28 September 2026) for the duration of the sports season (until 26 March 2027).
* 1st Touch Football Coach – Boys
* 1st Tennis Coach – Boys
* 1st Volleyball Coach – Boys
The Head Coach will manage a coaching programme for their sport, providing participation opportunities for all students, maximising skill development, fitness and teamwork.
Key Duties
* Lead the First Team, promoting a consistent and contemporary game style with clearly defined performance goals and standards.
* Oversee team and athlete development, ensuring all selections align with CGS Selection Policy guidelines and communication is timely and appropriate.
* Collaborate with the Head of Sport to manage resourcing, scheduling, and delivery of matches, training sessions and related programme activities.
* Contribute to programme strategy, including initiatives to strengthen and grow the First Team and broader programme.
* Represent the team and programme at key events, including presentations, information sessions, inductions and assemblies as required.
* Provide leadership and direction to assistant coaches and contribute to a cohesive coaching team.
* Model and uphold the values and behaviours of Caulfield Grammar School.
Skills and Experience
* Experience coaching and managing a coaching programme, preferably at secondary school and/or in community sport.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to engage, motivate and develop student athletes and coaching staff.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
* A collaborative mindset and commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.
* Hold a coaching accreditation and be passionate and enthusiastic to coach, mentor and be a positive role model for our students.
* Have a Victorian Employment Working with Children Check, a Level 1 First Aid and an Anaphylaxis certification or be prepared to obtain these.
