We are seeking an experienced ERP Change and Business Transformation Manager to step into a Senior role within one of Canberra’s leading consulting firms. Joining our rapidly growing team, you will play a key role in supporting a major government client through complex change and transformation initiatives.

Job details:

The ERP change specialist manager will provide senior level advisory support across change management, delivery assurance, and corporate governance for the Department’s ERP modernisation program.

This role operates across program, portfolio, and enterprise layers to ensure ERP initiatives are governed effectively, delivered in line with departmental priorities, and supported by robust change and adoption practices. The position plays a critical role in connecting strategy, governance, delivery, and people impact across a complex, ERP transformation.

The role provides authoritative advice to the ERP program management team, relevant governance bodies and executives on change delivery confidence, risks, benefits realisation, readiness, and governance effectiveness. It supports the establishment and operation of clear decision making structures, performance reporting, risk management, and assurance mechanisms.

The specialist works closely with ERP program management team, key business leads and representatives across finance, HR, ICT delivery teams, system integrators, and shared service partners to ensure ERP implementation outcomes are sustainable, compliant, and embedded into business-as-usual operations.

They will also play a key role with development and assurance of key change artefacts and registers, partnering with the relevant communications and engagement representatives to develop key communications and stakeholders plans and strategies and support development and assurance of key Executive/governance body papers, business case, and NPP/Approach to Market artefacts.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Change Management & Adoption

* Developing and overseeing ERP change management strategies aligned to enterprise objectives.

* Ensuring people, process and cultural impacts are identified, managed, and embedded.

* Advising on stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, and workforce readiness

* Supporting business transition, training alignment, and post go‑live adoption.

Delivery Oversight & Assurance

* Providing delivery oversight, health checks, and assurance across ERP workstreams

* Monitoring schedule, dependencies, resourcing, risks, and benefits realisation

* Advising senior leadership on delivery confidence, issues, and corrective actions

* Supporting alignment between ERP delivery activities and business priorities

Corporate Governance & Reporting

* Establishing and maintaining ERP governance frameworks, forums, and decision authorities

* Supporting program and portfolio level reporting, dashboards, and executive briefings

* Ensuring compliance with departmental, financial, and whole‑of‑government governance requirements

* Supporting external and internal assurance processes (e.g. audit, gateway reviews)

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

* Providing high quality, evidence-based advice to the Program Management Team and key peak governance bodies.

* Facilitating effective decision making through clear options, trade-offs, and recommendations

* Acting as a trusted advisor across business, ICT, and delivery partnerS

* Significant experience in large scale ICT or ERP transformation programs

* Experience with major ERP platforms (eg. SAP, TechOne, Aurion, Oracle, Dynamics, Workday or similar).

* Demonstrated expertise in change management, delivery oversight, and governance.

* Demonstrated expertise in aligning change, stakeholder management, communications, and engagement strategies into cohesive delivery focused outcomes.

* Experience operating in complex, multi-stakeholder government environments.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence and advise SES.

* Strong ability to prepare executive level briefs, reports, and assurances.

Technical skills

Highly Desirable:

* Demonstrated judgement in balancing delivery pressures with governance requirements.

* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.

Essential criteria:

Candidate must provide a one-page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters.

1. Business process improvement: Level 7 (SFIA)

Directs the identification, evaluation and adoption of new or existing technologies to improve business processes. Aligns business strategies, enterprise transformation, and technology strategies. Embeds strategic business process improvement into the governance and leadership of the organisation. Directs the creation and review of a cross-functional, enterprise-wide approach and culture for embracing business process management.


2. Specialist advice: Level 5 (SFIA)

Provides definitive and expert advice in their specialist area. Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Oversees the provision of specialist advice by others. Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.

3. Strategic planning: Level 5 (SFIA)

Collates information and creates reports and insights to support strategy management processes. Ensures that all stakeholders are aware of the strategic management approach and timetables. Provides support and guidance to help stakeholders adhere to the approach. Develops and communicates plans to drive forward the strategy and related change planning. Contributes to the development of policies, standards and guidelines for strategy development and planning.


4. User experience analysis: Level 4 (SFIA)

Selects appropriate techniques and tools to develop user stories and elicit user experience requirements in complex situations. Identifies and describes the design goals for systems, products, services and devices. Identifies the roles of affected stakeholder groups. Resolves potential conflicts between differing user requirements. Specifies measurable criteria for the required usability and accessibility of systems, products, services and devices.

Desirable criteria:
1. Innovation: Level 5 (SFIA)

Manages the innovation pipeline and executes innovation processes. Develops and adapts innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation. Identifies resources and capabilities needed to support innovation. Encourages and motivates innovation communities, teams and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures. Manages and facilitates the communication and open flow of creative ideas between interested parties and the set-up of innovation networks and communities.

2. Specialist advice: Level 6 (SFIA)

Provides organisational leadership and guidelines to promote the development and exploitation of specialist knowledge in the organisation. Maintains a network of recognised experts (inside and/or outside the organisation) who can deliver expert advice in relevant areas. Provides input into professional development planning across a significant part of the organisation to further the development of appropriate expertise.
