Therapeutic Youth Worker
Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care in Bligh Park, NSW!
Location: Blue Mountains & Central West, NSW, Australia. Position: Full Time Permanent.
Responsibilities
- Meeting the child or young person's daily care needs such as personal hygiene, health and well‐being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support.
- Contribute to and maintain a quality care environment that is secure, clean and personalized for all children and young people who live there.
- Document accurately events and developments related to the day‐to‐day provision of care on the child or young person's journey with us.
- Ensure children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible for them while in our care.
- Utilize trauma‐informed practices and supports in day‐to‐day care provision for children and young people.
- Provide positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
- Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation and community involvement.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of the children and young people.
- Support young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training and independent living skills.
- Promote and support positive relationships and connection for children and young people with family, culture and community.
- Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy and thriving life.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experience offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, promoting their independence, and a deep commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children and young people. Adapt responses and utilize a broad range of support strategies. Meticulous documentation and reporting are essential.
- Availability to suit a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.
- Current paid Working with Children check.
- Current National Police check.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Suitable minimum qualification, lived experience or eligibility for a traineeship.
