This role is for a proven SEO manager who wants to take their career to the next level, getting hands‑on experience working with big‑name brands and implementing award‑winning level SEO strategies. You will be mentored by some of Australia’s best SEO professionals who have 15+ years of experience in the SEO industry.
You will be responsible for the organic growth of a portfolio of Aperitif’s clients in both the eCommerce and lead generation space. You’ll get to be hands‑on, tinkering with clients’ websites on a daily basis across a variety of CMS, whilst also building award‑winning organic search (SEO) strategies.
You should be able to ‘walk the walk’, that is, you’re able to both articulate your ideas and implement them.
You’ll work with linkbuilders, copywriters, technical SEO specialists and SEO strategists to produce results‑driven SEO strategies that you’ll be proud to put your name to.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute high‑level SEO strategies across a portfolio of Aperitif’s clients, across a variety of industries.
- Audit a client’s site’s SEO standing and formulate an optimisation strategy to be executed over the coming months.
- Perform keyword research and analysis to build a list of target keywords for clients that are relevant and have the right intent.
- Implement your audit findings and other technical elements such as meta tags, internal linking, canonical tags, sitemap improvements, redirects, etc.
- Write detailed content briefs that appeal to E‑E‑A‑T metrics using SEO best practices.
- Conduct competitor analysis and industry benchmarking to identify gaps in our client’s content and identify growth opportunities.
- Work with the linkbuilding team to strategise link placements and grow your client’s domain authority.
- Monitor and report on SEO performance including keyword movement, organic traffic growth and user behaviour, and end conversions using Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Analytics, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and more.
- Report on what worked, what didn’t and what we’ll do next for our clients.
- Keep your finger on the pulse on algorithm and industry changes and what that means for our clients.
Role Growth
Working closely with the founders and SEO director, you’ll get to learn first‑hand from some of the best SEO minds in the industry. As the SEO team is built out, the path for this role is progressing to an SEO lead, managing a squad of copywriters, linkbuilders and SEO specialists. We are firm believers in perfecting our craft and will provide all the necessary training to take your skills to the next level.
Required Experience & Skills
- You have a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in implementing SEO campaigns, preferably in an agency.
- You have a solid understanding of how SEO works, including how sites are crawled, the importance of site structure, subfolders, domains as well as what can be optimised (and how).
- Strong written language skills with the ability to brief efficiently and polish content to achieve your SEO goals.
- You are proficient in leading SEO tools like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMRush, Copyscape, etc.
- Ability to implement structured data and schema markup.
- Meticulous attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- You’re a natural storyteller, you have the ability to digest data and turn it into tangible suggestions that can easily be understood by those without your level of expertise.
- You’re confident to share your professional opinion, you’re goal and outcomes‑orientated.
- You’re a self‑starter, with an innate curiosity.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is a bonus.
- Must be in a commutable distance to South Yarra (Melbourne).
