The role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Concrete and Aggregates Laboratory Supervisor to join our laboratory team in Port Melbourne. The purpose of this role is to supervise and undertake concrete and aggregate testing, as well as lead the Port Melbourne team.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee the work of laboratory technicians at the Port Melbourne lab.
2. Ensure the lab operates safely, efficiently, and complies with all testing requirements.
3. Manage the laboratory equipment calibration program and maintain appropriate records.
4. Promote safety and sustainability expectations among the team through visible leadership.
5. Ensure the laboratory complies with NATA requirements.
6. Ensure all laboratory technicians are appropriately qualified, with training records maintained.
7. Schedule and allocate testing tasks to internal and external testing companies to meet project requirements.
8. Conduct site visits to ensure quality assurance for internal and external clients.
9. Collaborate with Technical Supervisors on customer-related tasks, including technical disputes and data acquisition for projects.
What you will need to succeed
* At least 5 years of experience in construction materials testing, specifically concrete and aggregates.
* Certificate III in Lab Operations or prior NATA signatory status from an approved NATA laboratory.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to present complex data as usable management information.
* Good people management experience.
* Collaborative and innovative mindset.
* Well-organized and a self-starter.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting confidently between operations, sales, and marketing teams.
