About the role
The role of the MHAOD Clinical Nurse Consultant provides operational and clinical leadership in collaboration with the CNM in MHAOD service provision to young people by Mental Health Nurses and AMHW at the Banksia Hill Youth Detention Centre and Crisis Care Unit.
Key responsibilities
* Advise on assessment and therapeutic services needed to provide mental health care to young people.
* Use data from clinical assessments to develop appropriate policies, clinical protocols, and assessment tools to support an efficient mental health service.
* Monitor compliance with policy, protocols, procedures, and standards pertaining to MHAOD patients.
* Actively participate in planning for service and quality improvement.
* Provide a link between the Youth Justice System, community-based health service providers, and the Forensic Mental Health Service.
* Perform specialised MHAOD assessments on young people referred and facilitate signposting and onward referral to the appropriate specialist service.
* Work to improve communication and model integrity and respect in all interactions.
* Operate within the Department's Corporate Governance Framework, policies, and procedures to ensure effective transparency and accountability of all Department activity.
* Operate within the chain of command to coordinate activities required to meet the Department's strategic objectives.
* Work collaboratively to achieve common goals and best practice, and facilitate business improvements as appropriate.
* Facilitate cultural and management reforms within the Department through leadership and engagement.
* Represent the Department's interest on committees and working groups as required.
