Job Title: Guidance Support Specialist
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our Student Support team, providing expert guidance to students navigating various barriers to educational success.
* Deliver confidential short-term support services to current students experiencing psychological, emotional and/or financial distress affecting their academic performance and progress.
* Assess and provide advice on responses and referrals to critical incidents, ensuring timely interventions.
* Provide study guidance to existing and prospective students, promoting relevant courses and pathways for academic growth and development.
* Offer support and consultancy to teaching/administrative staff on behavioural management of students, including skill development programs for small groups with concerns or special needs.
* Collaborate with government agencies and community organisations to enhance student access and outcomes.
* Act as a link between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and other regional staff, facilitating communication and opportunities.
* liaise with School Community Education Counsellors and community organisations to provide information sessions about training opportunities and arrange study visits.
* Participate in Orientation and Open Days, Expositions and other external activities promoting the institution's offerings.
* Engage in professional development, peer and one to one supervision to ensure consistently high standards of practice within legislative frameworks.
* Maintain accurate records of service provisions and provide concise monthly reports.
* Support the resolution of student concerns, complaints and/or grievances through proactive intervention on behalf of the institution.
