Senior Manufacturing Engineer: Construction Tooling
ASC, in partnership with BAE Systems Australia, is embarking on one of the most significant and complex defence manufacturing programs in the nation’s history — the construction of Australia’s SSN‑AUKUS nuclear‑powered submarines. Your new role
As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Construction Tooling, you will lead the development, commissioning, and ongoing optimisation of tooling systems essential to submarine construction. Your responsibilities include specifying and designing tooling, integrating tooling into complex manufacturing processes, managing tooling lifecycle performance, and ensuring compliance with WHS and Defence standards. You will also collaborate closely with international partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while providing technical leadership to junior engineers and production teams.
What you’ll need to succeed
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
* Significant experience in manufacturing engineering within heavy industry or defence.
* Demonstrated expertise in tooling design, commissioning, and lifecycle management.
* Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, quality systems, and production processes.
* Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools.
* Experience working in complex, highly regulated environments.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and project management skills.
* Australian Citizenship is required to gain the necessary security clearance.
