Job Title: Senior Wellbeing Coach
As a Senior Wellbeing Coach, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive support to individuals and their families navigating the mental health system. Drawing on personal experiences, you will offer insight, empathy, and hope to those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Peer Support: Provide individualized support to individuals with mental health challenges, leveraging your personal experiences to foster empathy and understanding.
2. Community Engagement: Develop and maintain active community networks relevant to the role, seeking opportunities for partnership with First Nations community-controlled organisations.
3. First Nations Engagement and Response Plan: Collaborate with the Community Engagement Lead and First Nations Manager to develop a comprehensive plan.
4. Mental Health Wellness: Create opportunities for individuals to take an active role in their mental health wellness by providing information, education, and guidance on available resources, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
5. Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of and alongside individuals to ensure their voices are heard, their needs are met, and they receive respectful and person-centered care within the mental health system.
6. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, including suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting individuals with emergency mental health services.
7. Collaborative Assessments: Facilitate collaborative, strengths-based assessments and co-design personalised wellbeing plans aligned with each individual's needs and goals.
8. Safety Planning: Assist individuals in recognising early warning signs of distress and co-develop safety plans.
9. Challenging Behaviours: Manage challenging behaviours and emotional distress in a calm, safe, and respectful manner.
10. Peer-Led Groups: Facilitate peer-led support groups, workshops, and community events to promote mental health awareness, peer connection, and recovery-oriented practices.
11. Training and Development: Participate in training programs, workshops, and peer support certification processes to enhance knowledge, skills, and peer support competencies.
12. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of peer support interactions, referrals, and outcomes in accordance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
13. Therapeutic Relationships: Build therapeutic relationships with Individuals who access the centre and journey with them through their full episode of care.
14. Assessment Tools: Use assessment and referral tools such as the IAR-DST, RAS-DS and K10 & K5.
