Whoever You Are : Disability Support Worker
Location: Northern NSW (Tweed Valley) & Southern Gold Coast
Schedule: Weekends, Weekdays
About the Role
* Whoever You Are is seeking passionate Disability Support Workers to join our team and redefine care standards. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be vital in providing compassionate care and essential skills to individuals with disabilities. You will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that each participant receives the highest quality of care. We currently have 15-25 hours available throughout the week, with weekend work available and sleepovers if required.
* Weekday rates will vary from $35.15-$43.23 an hour, depending on experience
* Saturday and Sunday Rates if required
* More hours will become available as we grow our participant base around the area.
* This role would suit anyone looking to get into the industry or a university student studying a health-related degree. Experience is preferred but not essential.
* You will be working with a mixed caseload and your location of work may be flexible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide compassionate and personalised care to individuals with disabilities
* Assist with activities of daily living, accessing the community, personal care and navigating complex behaviours
* Support participants in developing independent living skills
* Facilitate community access and participation
* Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
Requirements
* Experience or qualifications in disability support is preferred but not essential.
* Experience in Personal Care: Including showering, grooming, manual handling and hoisting/transfers.
* Experience in managing Complex Behaviours: Ability to remain calm and patient while supporting participants with severe behaviours of concern.
* Experience with Autism (ASD) and non-verbal communication: Understanding sensory triggers and using alternative ways to communicate and engage.
* Working with children (Blue Card): may be varying shift times (before and after school)
* Ability to travel around Tweed Valley and surrounds as well as the Gold Coast
* A genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong teamwork skills
* A willingness to continuously learn and grow
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Current driver's license and reliable car with insurance
