About SD Laboratories
SD Laboratories works with Physiotherapy clinics under the guidance of CEO Dr Prateek Bando, Prof. Tony Goldschlager (Neurosurgeon) and Peter Allen (Head Physiotherapist).
There is great potential for physiotherapists to treat chronic pain by treating sleep.
This initiative by SD Laboratories aims to integrate clinical research into physiotherapy practice, specifically highlighting how poor sleep - often caused by disorders like insomnia or obstructive sleep apnea - exacerbates pain sensitivity and systemic inflammation. Research demonstrates that by treating concurrent sleep disorders and ensuring proper body support during rest, clinicians can significantly reduce pain severity and sensitivity in chronic pain patients.
For patients with residual pain, despite maximal physiotherapy care, treating sleep can make a profound difference to quality of life, and help reduce the need for more risky invasive pain reduction strategies.
This holistic treatment option shows great potential to empower physiotherapists to achieve better pain reduction for their patients.
We are now working with Physiotherapy clinics and clinicians to implement an evidence-informed model of care that puts into place interventions aimed at improving sleep quality to reduce pain into regular Physiotherapy practice.
