The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced leader to manage the Parks and Horticultural team, driving safe, productive and high-performing operations. The role coordinates daily service delivery, develops maintenance programs, and ensures open spaces meet quality and customer service standards. You will lead continuous improvement, asset management practices, contractor performance, and provide high-level technical advice. As part of the management team, you will contribute to strategic planning and organisational decision-making. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the Parks and Horticultural team to drive productivity, safety, teamwork and continuous improvement. Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources. Develop and implement horticultural maintenance programs and service agreements to achieve high-quality open space outcomes. Establish and manage processes, systems, auditing and feedback to ensure service delivery meets agreed standards. Embed asset management principles, performance monitoring and intervention standards into parks and horticultural operations. Provide high-level technical and statutory advice and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making as part of the management team. To be considered for this role, you will have the following: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Horticulture, Conservation/Land Management, Business Administration or a related field, or substantial experience in open space management. Extensive experience leading, managing and coaching diverse, multidisciplinary teams in operational environments. Proven capability in developing strategies, policies, service levels and standards for parks, horticulture or open space management. Strong experience in procurement, tendering and contract management, including managing contractors and service agreements. Demonstrated experience in managing operating and capital budgets and delivering relevant projects. Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and risk management requirements. Current Victorian Driver's Licence, with local government experience highly regarded. Valid Working with Children Check No relevant criminal record found in a police check. Why Choose Maribyrnong?
