The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who has responsibility for ensuring the highest standard of care is achieved for aged care patients within the inpatient and ED setting. Key components of the role include assisting both aged care patients and their carers to navigate their inpatient journey from admission through to discharge. Responsibilities also include the KPI’s & nursing responsibilities for the Aged Care Assessment Unit (ACAU) Clinical Nurse Consultants are employed as Grade 2 according to the criteria outlined below, and in line with the NSW Public Health System Nurses' and Midwives' (State) Award.

The Sutherland Hospital is a 375-bed, major metropolitan hospital and an associated teaching hospital of the University of NSW, which is part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and is located in Caringbah, a southern suburb of Sydney. Established in 1958, The Sutherland Hospital campus offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and community services to around 226,000 residents of the Sutherland Shire, colloquially known as ‘The Shire’
A $ million redevelopment has delivered a new and expanded emergency department, 60 new acute inpatient beds, and storage space for theatres to improve efficiencies. Current refurbishment works to provide an expanded medical imaging service are in progress.
The hospital campus is close to some of Sydney’s great beaches, restaurants, bars and cafes at Cronulla and is close to the beautiful Royal National Park. Gymea is another lively suburb with many restaurants and cafes. At Miranda, just a short walk away from the hospital, there is a Westfield Shopping Centre and cinema complex.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.
