The Opportunity

The Faculty of Education is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Level B) in Humanities and a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Learning and Teaching in the School of Curriculum, Teaching and Inclusive Education. The academics will contribute to high-quality teaching and curriculum development, while advancing scholarly and professional activities in line with their academic leadership level.

As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will deliver and coordinate lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, develop and assess curriculum materials, supervise honours and postgraduate research projects, and provide academic support to students. You will also engage in research, contribute to professional activities, and participate in administrative and committee duties within the School.

As the successful candidate, you will bring expertise in curriculum development and student engagement in one of two areas: (1) humanities education, with a focus on teaching across the disciplines of history, geography, business, and civics in alignment with curriculum; or (2) learning and teaching, with a focus on teacher education that provides a strong grounding in contemporary pedagogical approaches, including cognitive load theory, classroom behaviour, and the use of routines to support effective teaching..A strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaboration is essential, alongside an active research profile supported by publications, funding success, and professional networks. Experience in classroom teaching, current learning research, and postgraduate supervision is preferred, particularly for senior roles.

For candidates that demonstrate a quality track record of research, in addition to teaching, there may be opportunities to engage in independent and collaborative research in your field. To attain a research workload, an emerging track record of strong theoretically informed empirical research is needed alongside methodological expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed research methods.
