Innisfail Youth & Family Care Inc. (IYFC) supports vulnerable children, young people and families across the Cassowary Coast. We deliver essential services including domestic violence support, crisis accommodation, community housing, youth programs, emergency relief and residential care.

About the RoleThe Domestic Violence Support Worker provides front-line crisis intervention, case management and advocacy for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
In this role you will:
• Provide trauma-informed crisis response, emotional support and safety planning
• Assist clients with Domestic Violence Protection Orders (applications, affidavits and variations)
• Provide court support at Innisfail Magistrates Court
• Conduct intake, assessment and case management
• Support clients residing in DV Crisis Housing, including regular home visits and tenancy transition
• Liaise with QPS, Magistrates Court, Child Safety, legal services, housing providers and community agencies
• Provide practical assistance, advocacy, referrals and information
• Maintain accurate client documentation, court outcomes and statistical reporting
This is a full-time (38 hours per week) role based in Innisfail.
What You Will Bring
Essential:
• Diploma of Community Services (or related field) with experience in DFV, crisis intervention or community services
• Demonstrated trauma-informed practice and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to support people experiencing crisis with empathy, professionalism and maturity
• Understanding of domestic and family violence, risk factors and safety planning
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, supportive team
• Current Queensland Driver Licence
• Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
• National Police Check
Highly regarded:
• Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or Behavioural Science
• Experience in DFV court support
• Experience working in regional or rural communities
• Knowledge of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012
Selection Criteria:
Applicants must submit a cover letter addressing the following selection criteria (minimum one paragraph per criterion):
1. Demonstrated experience providing crisis intervention, emotional support or case management to individuals experiencing vulnerability, domestic and family violence or trauma.
2. Understanding of domestic and family violence dynamics, risk factors and safety planning, including trauma-informed and culturally respectful practice.
3. Ability to prepare or support clients with Domestic Violence Protection Order applications and/or provide support within a court environment (or willingness to learn).
4. Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to work respectfully with clients, maintain professional boundaries and collaborate with community agencies.
5. Ability to maintain accurate, confidential client records, case notes and reporting requirements.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a small team environment.
