Job Description
As an After Hours Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of young people during nighttime hours. This role is dynamic and requires you to be on-call, ready to respond to critical incidents and provide immediate assistance when needed.
You will be tasked with delivering phone support to youth workers across different residential care homes, guiding them through challenging situations, and offering practical advice to manage incidents effectively.
In addition to phone support, you will be required to drive to various residential care homes to provide in-person support, assess situations, and offer hands-on assistance during after-hours incidents.
Your work will be focused on creating a secure, supportive environment where young people feel safe and empowered, even outside of regular working hours.
You will be expected to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to safeguarding the well-being of each individual.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent qualification.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services, residential care or supported accommodation.
* Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
* Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced significant challenges and trauma.
