Overview
SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. Starlink Production Technician (PCBA) – Temporary, supports Starlink deployment and orbiting infrastructure with hands-on PCB assembly and testing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
* Operate PCB assembly machines to manufacture circuit boards, including SMT placement, reflow, paste printer, conformal coat, masking, epoxy application, coating, optical and x-ray inspection.
* Run thermal and functional testing of electronic hardware, including setup, instrumentation, test execution, teardown, and troubleshooting.
* Document failure modes and use data to continually improve quality.
* Maintain and calibrate production equipment via scheduled preventative maintenance.
* Manage schedule priorities and independently execute work to meet deliverables.
* Component kitting and measurement.
Position Details
* Length of position: 3 months.
* Location: Redmond, WA.
* Shift: 1st shift 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM; 2nd shift 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM.
Basic Qualifications
* High school degree or equivalency certificate.
* 1+ years of hands-on work experience with electromechanical tools, assembly, or testing.
Preferred Skills and Experience
* 2+ years of electro-mechanical or mechanical assembly experience.
* Ability to read and work from layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists.
* Proficient with PC, Windows, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP and related programs.
* Soldering proficiency including IPC and/or J-STD certification.
* Experience setting up and running tests and experiments.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Associate degree.
Additional Requirements
* Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Shift times: 1st shift 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM; 2nd shift 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM.
* Repetitive assembly operations, standing for long periods, climbing ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required.
* Able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
Compensation and Benefits
* Pay range varies by level:
o Starlink Production Technician/Level 1: $22.00 – $26.50/hour
o Starlink Production Technician/Level 2: $25.50 – $31.00/hour
o Starlink Production Technician/Level 3: $29.00 – $37.00/hour
* Actual level and base salary determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge, education, and experience.
* Base salary is part of a total rewards package, which may include discretionary bonuses, comprehensive medical coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, discounts and perks, and 10+ paid holidays per year. Non-exempt Washington employees are eligible for sick leave per state policy.
