Estimator – Workshop FabricationNanango, QLD | Full-time
Our client is a well-established industrial manufacturing and fabrication business, delivering custom-built workshop fabrication items and engineered products. They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Nanango-based operation, working closely with the workshop, suppliers, and project teams.This role is hands-on and operationally critical. It suits someone who genuinely understands manufacturing workflows, not just pricing — someone who thinks ahead about how and when work is physically built on the workshop floor.
Responsibilities include;Prepare accurate estimates for workshop-fabricated items (e.g. custom trays, fabricated components, assemblies)Review drawings, scopes, and specifications to determine materials, labour, and sequencingSource and review supplier quotes and manage purchase ordersLiaise closely with suppliers to confirm lead times and availabilityPlan estimates with a clear understanding of manufacturing timelines, including:Material deliveryLaser cuttingFabrication and assemblyPainting / coatingMachiningTesting and quality checksAnticipate downstream impacts and flag risks before goods arrive in the workshopWork collaboratively with production and workshop teams to ensure estimates are practical and achievableMaintain strong cost control and documentation throughout the estimating processAbout youProven experience as an Estimator within manufacturing, fabrication, or workshop-based environmentsStrong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing workflowsExperience reviewing supplier quotes, purchase orders, and lead timesAble to think beyond pricing and plan how work will physically move through the workshopConfident estimating fabricated items, not just standard off-the-shelf productsDetail-focused, organised, and commercially astuteComfortable working on-site in Nanango, with occasional visits to other projects or sites as requiredCandidates without relevant fabrication or manufacturing estimating experience are unlikely to be suited to this role.
