Peer Worker Alcohol and Other Drugs (Missiondale)
Part time (22.8 hours)
City Mission is seeking an individual to provide peer support to current and future residents of Missiondale by using their own lived experience of substance use and subsequent recovery. The position requires the employee to develop working relationships with Missiondale residents and Missiondale staff. Primarily the Peer Worker will be responsible for supporting residents during program at Missiondale to apply the values, principles and guidelines of Missiondale as a Therapeutic Community in order to work towards recovery.
Missiondale provides a supportive environment for people engaging in long-term recovery in a Therapeutic Community setting. Missiondale is set on a peaceful 25 acres outside of Evandale and is funded for 34 beds, delivering a six-month program. The program includes individual and group therapy, skills development, case management and clinical support. Clients who enter Missiondale have completed their detox or withdrawal period elsewhere prior to admission.
This role involves Alcohol and Other Drugs case work, not Disability Support.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
* Lived experience in the area of substance use and/or substance dependence.
* An in-depth understanding of your own personal recovery process and the willingness to continue to engage in appropriate recovery supports.
* A willingness to purposefully and respectfully use your own lived experience to help others understand their own recovery journey.
* Completion of Peer Worker Training or equivalent, or willingness to complete.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
* Self-reflective and resilient with the ability to maintain boundaries and demands associated with assisting clients in crisis.
* Current Tasmanian Driver's Licence.
* National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM.
* Registration to Work with Vulnerable People is required for all roles at LCM.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
* Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
* Experience and confidence in group facilitation
* Lived experience in a residential recovery setting using a Therapeutic Community (TC) model advantageous.

This position and salary will be based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. As a Public Benevolent Institution, Launceston City Mission employees are eligible to salary package through our approved provider.
