This role will be delivering RediCommunities in the Narrabri local government area. RediCommunities is an Australian Red Cross facilitated program that empowers high-risk communities to develop and implement their own disaster resilience action plans and high-impact initiatives. RediCommunities is a flexible, five-phase model to strengthen community resilience to disasters. Recognising that every community is unique, this approach is iterative and responsive to evolving needs and priorities.
About the roleThe Officer - Resilience is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of individuals, households, and communities. The role involves assisting in the implementation of evidence-based resources, training, and community activities to build capacity to anticipate, respond to, and recover from disasters and crises.
This role will also support efforts to increase sector knowledge and understanding of disaster impacts, preparedness, and the psychosocial needs of affected populations.
What you will bring Sound knowledge and understanding of disaster resilience and community development principlesAbility to assist in developing and delivering training, workshops, and resourcesAdvocacy and communication skills, with the ability to support stakeholder engagementAnalytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to assist in using data to inform practiceAbility to work under general direction from senior employees within clear objectives and budget constraints and work with and support teams and people from diverse backgrounds and create a collaborative working environmentAbility to manage time, set priorities, plan and organise their own work and that of lower classified staff and/or volunteers
