The Mining and Metals business unit provides engineering, procurement, and construction services across a range of commodities worldwide.
Project Overview
Supervise and manage a team of structural engineers and designers on medium-to-large mining and metals projects.
Estimate staffing needs, schedule work, prepare discipline estimates and work plans, and review and approve structural investigations, designs, and studies.
Job Summary
Lead the structural engineering delivery, ensuring high-quality design coordination with other disciplines, cross-functional collaboration, and successful implementation of structural components.
Provide team support and training, and deliver project performance outcomes.
Major Responsibilities
Plan, develop, direct, and participate in the day-to-day structural engineering activity on projects of moderate complexity.
Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of assigned personnel; estimate staffing needs; schedule and assign tasks.
Provide technical input to meet procurement requirements.
Prepare or oversee structural discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
Review and make recommendations for the structural engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards.
Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval and input on structural engineering aspects.
Review and approve steel and concrete calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders.
Ensure structural engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training.
Assist in the preparation and review of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
Provide engineering inputs and support to other project delivery functions.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and ***** years of relevant experience, or ***** years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Strong problem-solving and resource management skills.
Ability to provide guidance and work collaboratively with subordinates.
Experience with structural design of mining and metals equipment support structures, including rotating and vibrating equipment.
Comprehensive understanding of local code requirements for design, fabrication, and installation of structures (Australian Standards).
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) certification in the structural discipline.
