Bluefin Resources has partnered with ones of Australia's leading university to source a Cloud and Automation Designer on a permanent basis. The role encompasses development and documentation of cloud designs, services, self-service capabilities, workflows, and standards, including documentation of automation architecture and frameworks for the university and its wider community.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Design and implement cloud-based services running on cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate with functional and technical team members to develop deployment strategies for existing and new cloud solutions
- Provides visibility of performance, cost, and the security of cloud infrastructure and services
- Identify emerging technology solutions that reduce cost, increase efficiencies, enhance capabilities, reduce risk, and improve security
- Provide relevant technical input into the qualification and verification process for developing new platforms and services.
- Plan tasks associated with automation initiatives, including capturing and documenting objectives, and targeted business perks in a business case or weighing or analysing costs, risks, and benefits
- Work with the Automation Engineers to identify the right tool for each automation job and assist in implementing a CICD process
- Work with Automation Engineers in creating, maintaining, and reporting on effective CICD processes, toolsets, and Proof of Concepts (PoC)
- Plan, formulate, design and implement infrastructure and cloud service packages in service management toolset
- Design, implement and maintain the service catalogue provisioning interfaces and automation for infrastructure and cloud native platforms
- Manage the life-cycle processes for keeping the cloud service catalogue current and relevant to customer and business needs.
**Experience and Skills Required**:
- Strong knowledge of cloud architectures, specifically, AWS or Azure
- Experience of cloud pricing and commercial models, including Azure, AWS, or other cloud service providers
- Experience with the creation and deployment of AWS CloudFormation and/or Azure ARM templates through automation
- Experience with automating cloud security best practices and frameworks
- Experience with continuous integration ("CI"), continuous deployment ("CD") methodologies and version control toolsets
- Experience in conducting quick technical feasibility of proposed workloads for hosting on cloud platforms via hands-on PoC
- Strong technical competence in computing including Windows and Linux OS, storage and compute
- Tertiary qualifications in an Information and Communications Technology discipline.
- Cloud Vendor certification at professional level for either AWS or Azure
- ITIL V3 and project management certification (desirable)
