About the role:
Customer Service and Helpdesk Officer - Titles Vary, But Service is the Core.
Our job titles might say Payroll, Taxation, or Accounts Payable/Receivable Officer, but at the heart of each of these roles is one key purpose: Customer Service.
You'll join a government team that provides essential support to the people keeping our state running, from health workers to administrative staff and suppliers. Whether you're answering calls about pay inquiries, following up on outstanding invoices, financial details or fines, or logging issues for resolution, your service first mindset is what counts. We don't just respond to inquiries, we want our customers satisfied and happy, one call at a time.
Here's what the role can look like depending on where you're placed:
* High volume helpdesk style roles where you'll manage 30-40 calls or 50+ emails per day.
* Finance-focused roles dealing with vendors, creditors, overdue accounts, or employee fines.
* Data-entry roles with a strong focus on accuracy, drafting escalations, and system entries.
* Supportive service desks answering questions, offering advice, or redirecting queries for resolution.
Across the board, the goal is the same: provide patient, empathetic, and reliable support.
About you:
You'll thrive here if you:
* Bring empathy, patience, and resilience to every interaction.
* Are great with written and verbal communication.
* Have experience in call centres, retail, hospitality, or any role where people are the focus.
* Can juggle tasks, think on your feet, and stay calm under pressure.
* Learn systems quickly (bonus if you know Chris21, Oracle, Valeo).
